Yellowstone 2012

One of our major summer vacations this year was going to Yellowstone.  We stayed in my brother-in-law Dave's family's cabin in Island Park.  It was fun to get away and just relax with no phones, internet, or anything.  The boys went fishing while the girls went on a walk.  We went river rafting, out to eat, and also to bear world.   It was really fun and we can't wait to go again!

So...ya...the river was less than a foot deep in some...well lots of places so we had to push our paddles along the bottom of the river and Dave even got out to pull us when we got high-centered!

 It was so pretty....but soon enough started raining on us

 We saw lots of buffalo

This buffalo was literally RIGHT behind the suburban so we decided to try and get a picture...but it was really scary considering they can be really mean!

 On the way home we stopped at bear world in Idaho.  It was probably one of my favorites of the trip!

 Peek-A-Boo! 

 The bears were so funny!  They'd swarm around the feeding truck, leaning on it, sitting, and (my favorite) raising their hands when they wanted some food~

There was a bear licking leftover chicken salad off the back of the truck from lunch!  The rear view mirror shows the backup camera and the bear licking it!

 There was a petting zoo at bear world too...and for some reason they LOVED Ty's bald head lol!

 Jax didn't love it though

 Peyton loved feeding the deer

 It reminded us all of Buck, the baby deer we raised for a summer a few years ago

 There were little candy machines...but they had animal food in them and this goat had it all figured out to eat it right out of the opening before you could get it out lol

 Baby bears :)  So cute!

 There were also rides at bear world!

 Did I mention Jax doesn't love rides?
